Amazon has announced signing a lease with GMR Aerocity Hyderabad to expand its India’s largest fulfillment center at Hyderabad.
In a statement, Amazon said the existing fulfillment center is spread across four lakh square feet and it has expanded it by adding 1.8 lakh sft.
With this, Amazon has three fulfillment centers in Telangana with a total processing area of over 8.5 lakh sft.
“In line with our vision to transform the way India buys and sells, we have been consistently investing in our infrastructure and delivery network, so we can increase our speed of delivery and provide a superior experience to both – customers and sellers,” said Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfilment – Asia, Amazon. “With the further expansion of our largest fulfillment center in India, we are excited to create many more hundreds of skilled jobs in the region and empower thousands local sellers to use the local infrastructure thus helping them save capital and grow.”
“There is no better testament than this expansion, to our commitment to quality and high standards of execution,” said Aman Kapoor, CEO, GMR Airport Land Development, GMR Group. “We hope Amazon continues to grow and thrive at Hyderabad Airport City,” he said, adding that the fresh agreement firmly establishes GMR Aerocity Hyderabad as one of the most reliable Grade-A warehouse developers.
Amazon India said the new fulfillment center furthers its commitment to continued investment in infrastructure to match its rapidly expanding business in Telangana. In June 2019, the company also announced the launch of its largest delivery station in Telangana spread across more than 20,000 sft.
